Horses

Chances are you know what horses are but keep reading anyway. Horses are many people's passion. Horses help us create sports, fun, relationships, and more. Horses are very forgiving and even after being in a home where they were beaten and starved they can learn to forgive over time.

Is Horseback Riding A Sport?

Yes, horseback riding is a sport. Going to camp and walking a horse around is not a sport. Many people say they've ridden and they still think riding isn't a sport... Those people have most likely ridden at a camp or a pony at a fair that only walks and somebody pulls her. People that ride at just camps and places simaller often don't even know the gaits. They may say they've trotted but have only walk-trotted or say they've cantered but have only trotted, etc. You can burn 200-600 calories per hour when you ride horses. Horseback riding is in the olympics, why would they put something that isn't a sport in the olympics? Riders get aches, pains, sweat, etc. Jockeys are known to be 'crazy' because they exersise non-stop.

Getting A Horse

You don't have to buy a high end $100,000 jumping horse or a $7,000 horse from a breeder. You can rescue a horse for around $250-$1,000. Sometimes you can get horses from the slaughter house for around $50. Many race horses go to the slaughter house after their carriers. Maybe your $200 slaughter rescue will be a champion! Rescuing a horse is amazing because not only do you save money, you can save a life!
