Fly Bonnet/Vail

Horses get bugs on their face and in their ears while riding, the horse acts differently because s/he is trying to get the bug out which can create problems, especialy in shows. When you aren't riding fly masks are great but while riding they just don't work. Fly bonnets are an adorable sulution! People have been known to use fly bonnets to hide ear plugs(illegal) so some times fly bonnets aren't allowed at show.

Fly Masks

Fly masks are usaully cheap and very helpful. It is hard for horses to get bugs off of their faces so fly masks are a huge help! Some horses with light skin and thin fur wear fly masks to avoid sun burn because fly masks provide shade for your equine partner. Fly masks often cost $10-$30 but some people buy expensive $100 fly masks, they are no better, the job gets done just the same. Some people just like to be big spenders even when un-nessasary. Don't worry your horse can see out of fly masks easily, it's like a butterfly net over your head.

Fly/Bug Sheets

You can use sweat sheets(read about sweat sheets on the 'Horse Blanket And Sheets' page) as a fly blanket or buy a fly blanket. Fly sheets look like sweat sheets or a plasticy fabric. Fly sheets aren't uasually very thick because they aren't designed for warmth or other things.
